BYOP stands for Bring Your Own Phone. With TracFone’s Bring Your Own Phone program, you can get TracFone service on your current CDMA, 4G LTE or 3G smartphone, and keep your phone, network and number.
CDMA stands for Code Division Multiple Access and is a competing cell phone service technology to GSM. In the United States, two of the four leading mobile network operators use CDMA.
3G is the generic term for third-generation wireless networks. Analog was 1G, Digital was 2G, and 3G is the third-generation platform for innovative, high-speed products and services. 3G makes staying connected faster, easier, and more fun, with increased speed for Web browsing, downloading content, attachments, video, playing games, and much more.
4G, short for fourth generation, is the fourth generation of mobile telecommunications technology, succeeding 3G and preceding 5G. A 4G system, in addition to the usual voice and other services of 3G, provides mobile broadband Internet access, for example to laptops with wireless modems, to smartphones, and to other mobile devices.
The term 4G LTE is really two terms. 4G means the fourth generation of data technology for cellular networks following 3G, the third generation. LTE stands for Long Term Evolution and is short for a very technical process for high-speed data for phones and other mobile devices. Together, they make 4G LTE the fastest 4G service available today.
Being the fastest network available means download speeds four to five times faster than 3G networks, which rivals some home broadband connections. Consumers can access the internet wherever there is coverage with any 4G-enabled device, including smartphones, tablets and mobile hotspots.
Yes. We offer LTE Service for smartphones on a CDMA network. Actual data speeds are device and location dependent.
